If only the plaudits could be found for the ale choice! Greene King IPA / Wadworth 6X @ 23rd April 2011 CHEESEROLLER Shurdington GL51 4XJ After many years, a change of management. A pleasant enough pub that serves well as a local with a more adventurous menu now for those that are eating. Maintaining a good choice of ales.. Otter Ale /Sharp's Doom Bar / Skinner's Buckos Brew @ 28th January 2012 COAL HOUSE INN Apperley GL19 4DN Like many pubs along the river, when it's winter there may be only one ale on, but in summer there could be up to three. The selection can be changed around a bit, with many breweries being featured over the year. Butcombe Bitter / Butcombe Gold / Wye Valley's Butty Bach @ 24th June 2010 COLESBOURNE INN Colesbourne GL53 9NP A cosy enough Wadworth establishment that has undergone a complete change. Always reliant on IPA and 6X and never anything 'challenging', the bar boasts four Wadworth ales now and something for everyone. Henry IPA / Horizon / Old Timer / 6X @ 8th February 2011 CORNER CUPBOARD INN Winchcombe GL54 5LX Extended from it's original tiny layout to accommodate a restaurant, the unique cosiness is still retained. If you're not in the lounge, though, enquire what ales are on as they're not always displayed in the bar. Bateman's Rosey Nosey / Fuller's London Pride / Sharp's Doom Bar / Timothy Taylor Landlord @ 16th December 2011 CRAVEN ARMS Brockhampton GL54 5XQ A traditional country pub catering for eaters and drinkers alike. Providing up to four selections with a Cornish brewery usually getting a look in. Hosts regular beer festivals. Otley's O3 Boss / Otter Bitter / Skinner's Ginger Tosser @ 8th March 2011 CROWN INN Frampton Mansell GL6 8JG A peaceful olde world country hotel in an idylic location that seems a lot more settled after a few turbulent years. Cuisine seems dominant but the ale choice is very worthy with up to four pumps lining the bar. Butcombe Mendip Spring / Stroud Organic Ale / Stroud's Summer Breeze @ 23rd August 2011 CROWN Cerney Wick GL7 5QH Good setting by the Cerney Lakes with garden, bar, lounge and restaurant. Two or three ales on offer, including local and even more adventurous beers on occasion; sadly not up to scratch for our tastes on our latest visit Wadworth's 6X / Wye Valley Bitter @ 17th January 2012 ~ D ~ DANEWAY INN Sapperton GL7 6LN One of the old fashioned country gems tucked out of sight but well known through its connection with the Sapperton Tunnel on the Stroudwater Canal. Nothing fancy, just how it was all those years ago. A Wadworth house but usually with at least one guest. Wadworth's Henry IPA / Wadworth's Summersault / Wadworth's 6X / Gale's Best Bitter @ 21st October 2011 DICK WHITTINGTON Gloucester GL1 2PE Winners of many CAMRA awards and after a bit of a blip, is recovering some of its former glory. An eye catching six or seven pumps available at the busier times of the week including many local offerings. Butcombe Bitter / Charles Wells' Bombardier / Hancocks HB / Moreland's Old speckled Hen / Otter Bitter / Skinner's Christmas Fairy @ 3rd January 2012 DRILLMAN'S ARMS Cirencester GL7 2JY Not a particularly welcoming pub from the outside, but one that is near the top of our 'favourite' list. It's not for the nationally available standard servings we go, but to sample the guests. Always a surprise and always an excellent surprise. Cotswold Spring's Old English Rose / Nailsworth's Town Crier / Otley's O3 Boss / Sharp's Doom Bar @ 4th October 2011 ~ E ~ EDGEMOOR INN Edge GL6 6ND Located in a prime position overlooking Painswick and the surrounding hills and now with a major extension and refurbishment. The down side of all that is it just doesn't have the atmosphere of a pub anymore, more of the restaurant it aspires to be, but always an excellent pint from a good choice of ales with Stroud, Wickwar and Uley breweries usually represented and coupled with a guest at times. Stroud's Budding / Uley Old Spot / Wickwar's BOB @ 8th November 2011 ELIOT ARMS South Cerney GL7 5UA A many faceted place with a cosy lounge, then stretching back through nooks and crannies to a huge function area, ending up with a patio overlooking a flast flowing stream. Marston's owned but have pseudo guests from their 'acquired' breweries.. Brakespear's Oxford Gold / Marston's Pedigree / Marston's EPA @ 1st September 2011 ENGLAND'S GLORY Gloucester GL1 3PB A busy but welcoming 'city' pub. A Wadworth establishment with up to five of their range including seasonals or pseudo guests when available.
