HALFWAY HOUSE Box GL6 9AE |
Not what you call a typical Cotswold pub with so much high class decor, but dining is the name of the game. The ale selection is barely acceptable to our criteria, and could well do with a local brew, especially as it maintains that produce is sought locally and ignores the very local Stroud and Nailsworth breweries.

HALFWAY HOUSE Kineton GL54 5UG |
A pleasant enough village pub that has undergone a bit of a facelift of late to make it more bright and cheerful, the outside not missing out either with an extension to the original small garden. It caters for all; pool table in the one half, dining at the other, drinking where you find a free table. Usually the standard two Donnington ales available although there was a special edition brew (Founder's Ale) on at the time of our last call.

HARVEST HOME Greet GL54 5BH |
A popular, welcoming village venue with seperate bars and dining area. Three pumps on with fairly little change.

HAWBRIDGE INN Haw Bridge, Tirley GL19 4HJ |
An excellent setting by the Severn at Haw Bridge in Tirley but here you get Wadworth fare only and unfortunately not the 'interesting' brews.

HIGHWAYMAN Elkstone GL53 9PL |
The epitome of an olde English pub, complete with oak beams, nooks and crannies. An Arkell's establishment with its standard range of ales throughout the year. Always plenty of room and an exceptionally good pint.

HOBNAILS INN Little Washbourne GL20 8NQ |
The building, dating from the 1400's and much enhanced by extensions, is regaining its popularity under the current owners, albeit as a restaurant / carvery rather than your friendly local, the casual drinker almost being a nuisance. A choice of two ales to go with your meal!

HOLLOW BOTTOM Guiting Power GL54 5UX |
One of the few pubs in the Donnington area that isn't actually a Donnington Brewery pub. No outstanding or unusual ales but its range can alter. Although a country pub at heart, it's prices would be competitive with any good hotel and if you're fond of horseracing then you'll find good company.
Cheltenham's Festival Gold / Donnington SBA / Hollow Bottom Best

HOUSE IN THE TREE Hayden's Elm GL51 0TQ |
Has often changed hands over the years but the format stays the same; drinking den in the small bar with the diner looked after in the larger restaurant / bar. No earth shattering ales - normally the tried and trusted names on a couple of pumps.
St.Austell's Tribute / 6X

KILKENEY INN Andoversford GL54 4LN |
Upmarket brasserie / restaurant with a deserved reputation for good food. If only that enthusiasm could project itself to the real ale then all would be well with the world, but all too often one of the two pumps will have the clip reversed and it's generally the better quality one.
St.Austell's Tribute / Young's Bitter

KING'S HEAD Bishop's Cleeve GL52 8LR |
A lively, typically local pub with an olde world feel about it, especially with the flagstone floors and the apparent serving of beer on tap. An occassional eye opener but standard brews are the norm.

KING'S HEAD France Lynch GL6 8LT |
One of our favourites, hidden in the small back lanes around Chalford Hill. A cosy, friendly pub in winter with secluded gardens for the summer and the licencees only too willing to allow you to sample the guests if you're not too sure. Not so many featured guests these days but a real gem of a pub in an idyllic part of the world.
Butcombe Bitter / Doom Bar / Otter Bitter

KING'S HEAD Norton GL2 9LR |
Needs a few finishing touches to be cosy (lampshades over the glaring lights, curtains on the bare windows etc.) but the enthusiasm cannot be faulted. Three ales on the bar.
Butcombe Bitter / Greene King's Abbot Ale / Sharp's Doom Bar

KING'S HEAD Withington GL54 4BD |
Most people are familiar with the Mill, which no longer serves real ale for commercial reasons, but strangely have never ventured a little further around the corner to find this friendly and lovely experience. No meals provided here which makes this pub so very special. Originally a staid two Wickwar beers on tap, but due to exceptional circumstances concerning the elderly and very charming landlady, she mainly offers bottled ales these days. It still is a must visit pub though as there are not many around like this, so call in while you have a chance.
