 |
HALFWAY HOUSE Box |
Perpetual alterations and building, but plenty of space, plenty of food and a good range of changing ales, including local breweries. Well worth a visit if walking around Minchinhampton.
Butcombe Bitter / Butcombe Gold / North Cotswold's Honey Stout / Timothy Taylor Landlord / Uley Hogshead
@ 8th April 2008
|
HALFWAY HOUSE Kineton |
Very pleasant and welcoming village pub in Donnington country. Usually the standard two ales available.
Donnington BB / Donnington SBA
@ 20th October 2007
|
HARVEST HOME Greet |
A popular village venue with seperate bar and dining area and now smartened up a bit under the new management. Three pumps working (including a local Goffs offering) with a fourth being contemplated if all goes well.
Jouster / Timothy Taylor Landlord / Old Speckled Hen
@ 23rd November 2007
|
HAWBRIDGE INN Haw Bridge, Tirley |
There are two pubs at Haw Bridge in Tirley but here you get Wadworth fare only. Much better now that the seasonal brews are putting in an appearance.
Henry IPA / Summersault / 6X
@ 1st July 2007
|
HIGHWAYMAN Elkstone |
The epitome of an olde English pub, complete with oak beams, nooks and crannies. An Arkell's establishment with its standard range of ales throughout the year, although the 2B has been jettisoned in favour of Moonlight or a seasonal. Always plenty of room and an exceptionally good pint.
Kingsdown / Moonlight / 3B
@ 26th April 2008
|
HOBNAILS INN Little Washbourne |
The building, dating from the 1400's and much enhanced by extensions, is regaining its popularity under the current owners, albeit as a pub restaurant rather than your friendly local. The ale selection can be slightly haphazard with sometimes three pumps, sometimes two, but never an outstanding premium.
London Pride / Otter Bitter
@ 16th March 2008
|
HOLLOW BOTTOM Guiting Power |
One of the few pubs in the Donnington area that doesn't ally itself to the brewery. London Pride is the only long running standard but if you're lucky, good guests such as Butty Bach have been offered. Although a country pub at heart, it's prices would be competitive with any good hotel.
Hollow Bottom Best / London Pride / North Cotswold's Vanilla Bumble Brew
@ 27th June 2007
|
HOUSE IN THE TREE Hayden's Elm |
A very busy place, especially where eating is concerned. A small bar on the one side is preferable if just taking the ale. Two standards and a couple of guests.
Banks' Bitter / Jennings' Cumberland Ale / Cheltenham's Festival Gold / 6X
@ 27th January 2008

KILCOT INN Kilcot, Newent |
Back to basics with a vengeance using old fashioned, worn out dining tables and chairs with decor to match. In a quirky sort of way this strange theme adds to the feeling of being in a time warp. Beer choice is down to luck, really, with guests regularly changing; there might be a premium or there could be just Bass!
Bass / Butcombe Bitter
@ 19th February 2008
|
KILKENEY INN Andoversford |
Upmarket brasserie / restaurant with a deserved reputation for good food. If only that enthusiasm could project itself to the real ale then all would be well with the world, but all too often one of the two pumps will have the clip reversed and it's generally the better quality one, hence infrequent visits and disappointing walkouts.
Waggledance / Young's Bitter
@ 1st July 2007
|
KING'S HEAD INN Upton St. Leonards |
More of a community pub than a village local. Refurbishment and improvements a couple of years ago took away the traditional 'blackboard' full of guests and the acquisition by Greene King has left their stamp on the bar line up.
Abbot Ale / Greene King IPA
@ 17th October 2006
|
KING'S HEAD Bishop's Cleeve |
A lively, typically local pub with an olde world feel about it, especially with the flagstone floors and the apparent serving of beer on tap. An occassional eye opener but standard brews are the norm.
Hobgoblin / Flowers IPA / Harviestoun Truly Scrumtious / London Pride / 6X
@ 5th February 2008
|
KING'S HEAD France Lynch |
One of our favourites, hidden in the small back lanes around Chalford Hill. A cosy, friendly pub in winter with secluded gardens for the summer and the licencees only too willing to allow you to sample the guests if you're not too sure. Archer's and Hooky Bitter have normally been standards, although Sharp's ales are quite popular too. Guests have included ales from Wye Valley, Slater's, Young's or even from far and distant breweries.
Cat's Whiskers / Doom Bar / Otter Bitter / Young's Bitter
@ 9th June 2007
|
KING'S HEAD Norton |
A pub of the old school, catering for the diners but not forgetting the drinkers. Three pumps normally in action with good guest appearances, frequently from local microbreweries.
Adnam's Broadside / London Pride / Whittington's Cat's Whiskers
@ 16th October 2007
|
KING'S HEAD Withington |
Most people are familiar with the Mill, which no longer serves real ale, but strangely have never ventured a little further around the corner to find this friendly and lovely experience. No meals provided here which makes this pub so very special. Normally a staid two ales on tap, but seasonal changes are seen.
Cotswold Way / Hook Norton Best
@ 29th May 2007
