A very traditional village pub, very sparse inside, but wonderfully atmospheric. Nothing can be more tranquil than sitting outside on a summer's day watching the water cascading from the stream opposite into it's stone reservoir. A Young's outlet (now including Wells) with two or three pumps on.

Located in the back lanes between Frampton and Epney, it is very easy to miss the turning into the pub's access road. An enjoyable setting alongside the start of the Stroudwater Canal gives the pub a big bonus, but the real ale rewards can be a bit hit and miss. Three selections could have been found at one time but nowadays only a lone pump.

No longer the old cosy ambience of a traditional country pub, but more the current minimalist fashion with bare flooring. A decent ale or two makes the place much more attractive, especially in winter with the roaring log fire.

A pub of changing fortunes along the years altering it's ambience to suit. Can vary from a cosy Cotswold hideaway to the raucous village local. Beer choice usually provides up to three standard ales with the odd subtle change.

Aspires to be a restaurant more than a pub these days. When it re-opened under it's old name again there seemed to be a distinct demarcation for eating and drinking, but now the preferred customer is the diner. Nevertheless, if you happen to choose a quiet night it is much to your advantage as there is always a couple of decent local ales from which to choose.

Much smartened up nowadays and a homely but eclectic feel about the place. Very heavy on the cuisine but there seems to be more of a 'local' element these days. Two or three pumps in action with one being standard (Timothy Taylor Landlord turned round when we called).

Frampton's other pub. An unfortunate description but somehow true. More of a local and maybe not as refined for the tourist, but the choice of beer can be good sometimes.

Although a longer journey is required, the ales at the end of it can be well worth it. With the Wildfowl Trust just across the canal bridge the pub is well used and hence there are up to six casks available. Uley and Wickwar brews are usually represented, but the adventurous guests are quite an attraction.

Seeing is believing with this one. Standing by the Sapperton Tunnel on the Stroudwater Canal this quaint, Bohemian antiquity exudes atmosphere. It's ale selection can be unusual sometimes which is an attraction in itself, but Uley is a standard bearer.

Home of the famous '2 in 1 pies'. Two small lounge bars and two more small dining areas, but if you just want to drink, there are bar stools provided - table reservations are the order of the day. Alternatively, visit in summer and enjoy the extensive patios at the rear of the building. Two regular ales with another constantly changing guest e.g.'Stroud Organic' below

Wall to wall televisions and plenty of viewers when the 'footy' is on. Putting that aside there is a half decent selection of ales in the winter months. Any other time can see a less enthusiastic display.

Has seen better days no doubt and being a Greene King pub, the ales are never going to entice (especially with reversed pump clips a speciality). The best course of action is to choose a sunny day and sit out on on the 'esplanade', enjoy the majestic views of the Severn and it's sandbanks across to Arlingham and not worry too much about the ale!

Still the White Hart despite the 'Sausage and Wine' logo. A huge disappointment on the ale front with only two pumps now; Bass (never a favourite) accompanied with a very tired Jouster. Must do better.

One of the most atmospheric places you could possibly find. A large bar area with plenty of seating and a restaurant scattered around many nooks and crannies; the courtyard being an added attraction for the good weather. No longer the force it used to be when the 'Old Peculiar' flowed; now unfortunately, a lot of Greene King beers and their associated brewery 'guests'.
