WAGON AND HORSES Cirencester GL7 2PU |
An eclectic mix of Thai cuisine in the restaurant at the back with a full frontal assault of real ale at the front bar. It definitely works. Wonderful.
Adnam's Lighthouse / John Courage Directors / Wadworth's Swordfish / Wye Valley's Dorothy Goodbody's Golden Ale
@ 15th November 2011
|
WEIGHBRIDGE INN Longfords, Minchinhampton GL6 9AL |
Home of the famous '2 in 1 pies'. Two small lounge bars and two more small dining areas, but if you just want to drink, there are bar stools provided - table reservations are the order of the day. Alternatively, visit in summer and enjoy the extensive patios at the rear of the building. Two regular ales now (Uley and 6X) with two other constantly changing guests.
Great Western's Maiden Voyage / Palmer's Best / Uley Old Spot / Wadworth 6X
@ 12th July 2011
|
WHEATSHEAF INN Cricklade Street, Cirencester GL7 1HY |
Wall to wall televisions and plenty of viewers when the 'footy' is on. Putting that aside there is a half decent selection of ales in the winter months. Any other time can see a less enthusiastic display.
Butcombe Bitter / Butcombe Brunel / Fuller's London Pride / Marston's Pedigree
@ 6th April 2010
|
WHITE HART INN Broadoak, Newnham GL14 1JB |
Has seen better days no doubt and being a Greene King pub, the ales are never going to entice (especially with reversed pump clips a speciality) and now down to one pump only. The best course of action is to choose a sunny day and sit out on on the 'esplanade', enjoy the majestic views of the Severn and it's sandbanks across to Arlingham and not worry too much about the ale!
Greene King IPA
@ 27th August 2011
|
WHITE HART INN Winchcombe GL54 5LJ |
Still the White Hart despite the 'Sausage and Wine' logo. Two ales if you're lucky and good ones if you're very lucky.
Butcombe Bitter / Prescott's Hill Climb
@ 19th October 2010
|
WHITE HART Ashton Keynes SN6 6NX |
A deceptively long building with rooms either end of the narrow bar area, one being the restaurant. A well looked after and popular village pub although the ale choice can be very uninspired.
Fuller's London Pride / Wadworth's 6X
@ 15th March 2011
|
WILD DUCK Ewen, Cirencester GL7 6BY |
One of the most atmospheric places you could possibly find. A large bar area with plenty of seating and a restaurant scattered around many nooks and crannies; the courtyard being an added attraction for the good weather. No longer the force it used to be when the 'Old Peculiar' flowed, so ambience wins over ale selection these days.
Bath Gem / Butcombe Bitter / Duck Pond Bitter / Purdy Ale / Sharp's Doom Bar / Theakston's Best
@ 14th June 2011
|
WOOLPACK INN Slad, Stroud GL6 7QA |
The famous 'Laurie Lee' pub that needs no introduction with the character and ambience of the place deeply rooted. Uley beers are the norm, supplemented with guest ales.
Butcombe Gold / Uley Bitter / Uley Gilt Edge / Uley Old Spot / Uley Pig's Ear
@ 28th June 2011
