TEDDINGTON HANDS INN Teddington, Tewkesbury |
Different landlords over the years and different beers but definitely going in the right direction now. The IPA is the regular accompanied by two constantly changing guests.
Flowers IPA / Holden's Golden Glow / Timothy Taylor Landlord
@ 5th February 2008
|
THREE HORSESHOES Frampton-On-Severn |
Frampton's other pub. An unfortunate description but somehow true. More of a local and maybe not as refined for the tourist, but the choice of beer can be good sometimes.
Adnam's Best / Hooky Bitter / Uley Bitter
@ 3rd July 2007
|
TRAVELLER'S REST Malswick, Newent |
More changes! The lounge bar has been converted into an additional part of a restaurant to adjoin the conservatory. Still no sign of the wonderful ales that once encouraged a full social evening on the premises, the last visit prompting our first walkout there.
Bass
@ 7th February 2007
|
TUDOR ARMS Slimbridge |
Although a longer journey is required, the ales at the end of it can be well worth it. With the Wildfowl Trust just across the canal bridge the pub is well used and hence there are up to six casks available. Uley and Wickwar brews are usually represented, but the adventurous guests are quite an attraction.
Cottage's Paw Father / Mole's Holey Moley / Palmer's Dorset Gold / Wickwar's Premium Spring Ale / Uley Pig's Ear
@ 18th March 2008
|
TUNNEL HOUSE INN Coates |
Seeing is believing with this one. Standing by the Sapperton Tunnel on the Stroudwater Canal this quaint, Bohemian antiquity exudes atmosphere. Recent refurbishment has added a large restaurant room, which fortunately doesn't impinge on the unique ambience. It's ale selection can be unusual sometimes which is an attraction in itself.
Hooky Bitter / Mann's St.George and the Dragon Ale / Uley Bitter
@ 24th April 2007
|
TWELVE BELLS Witcombe |
A Beefeater pub of two halves; the restaurant and all that comes with it on the one hand, mixing with the local drinkers standing around the bar on the other. From three to two selections but only 6X now - it seems to be getting worse.
6X
@ 8th November 2007
|
TWELVE BELLS INN Lewis Lane, Cirencester |
Cirencester's premier real ale pub. An unpretentious establishment providing an array of unusual ales with good food at very reasonable prices. No frills - just friendly banter and plenty of quality ale - never the same collection twice.
Coastal's Tweeky's Special / Cotswold Spring's Olde English Rose / Milk Stout / Rother Valley's Boadicea Ale / Wye Valley Bitter
@ 1st April 2008

WEIGHBRIDGE INN Longfords, Minchinhampton |
Home of the famous '2 in 1 pies'. Two small lounge bars and two more small dining areas, but if you just want to drink, there are bar stools provided - table reservations are the order of the day. Alternatively, visit in summer and enjoy the extensive patios at the rear of the building. Three regular ales.
Uley's Laurie Lee Bitter / Uley Old Spot / 6X
@ 11th August 2007
|
WHEATSHEAF INN Cricklade Street, Cirencester |
Wall to wall televisions and plenty of viewers when the 'footy' is on. Putting that aside there is a half decent selection of ales.
London Pride / Slater's Bitter / York's Yorkshire Terrier
@ 6th March 2007
|
WHITE HART INN Broadoak, Newnham |
Sit out on the 'esplanade', enjoy the views of the Severn and it's sandbanks across to Arlingham and imagine you're at the seaside. A nautical theme prevails throughout this Greene King pub with up to three of it's own brand brews available. The downside can be reversed pump clips being all too common.
Greene King IPA / Old Speckled Hen / Rocking Rudolph
@ 30th December 2007
|
WHITE HART INN Winchcombe |
Still the White Hart despite the 'Sausage and Wine' logo. Quite a busy place now, though only two ales instead of three.
St.Austell's Tribute / Whittington's Olde Tom
@ 23rd October 2007
|
WHITE HART Ashton Keynes |
A deceptively long building with rooms either end of the narrow bar area. A well looked after and popular village pub which seems to have settled on the IPA and 6X as standards. Not to our taste, so it's down to the third pump to persuade us to stay.
Cotswold Way / Greene King IPA / 6X
@ 2nd October 2007
|
WHITE LION INN Cambridge |
Not impressive ales a few years ago so the pub remained off limits to our visits. After alteration and refurbishment, a much improved three pump ale selction was introduced, but this can be reduced back to two at times. One of these is always the excellent Broadside but the others are only ever a non-descript offering. If the Broadside disappears then the off limits tag could very well be reinstated.
Adnam's Broadside / Bass
@ 9th December 2006
|
WILD DUCK Ewen, Cirencester |
One of the most atmospheric places you could possibly find. A large bar area with plenty of seating and a restaurant scattered around many nooks and crannies; the courtyard being an added attraction for the good weather. Up to six ales of normally tried and tested brews with a winter appearance of 'Old Peculiar', but sometimes too many session type 'Best Bitters' takes the shine off for our tastes.
Archer's Golden / Butcombe Bitter / Dorothy Goodbody's Golden Ale / Duck Pond Bitter / Old Speckled Hen / Theakston's Best
@ 23rd April 2008
|
WOOLPACK INN Slad, Stroud |
The famous 'Laurie Lee' pub that needs no introduction. The character and ambience of the place is deeply rooted despite the introduction of a modern 'food bar'. Uley beers are the norm, supplemented with one guest ale.
Spingo Middle / Uley Old Spot / Uley Pig's Ear / Uley Bitter
@ 15th April 2008
